Mother Nature blessed Atlanta with some unusually cool and dry weather for the July 4 holiday. We joined a group in Roswell for an early bike ride and enjoyed the spectacular morning with very light traffic.
Later in the day we took the train to downtown Atlanta to watch the 4th of July parade. What a slice of Americana! The festivities were ushered in by the reigning Miss America -- tiara and all.
We enjoyed the huge balloons, floats, and enthusiastic marching bands, many of which have adopted the infectious New Orleans dance style.
After the parade the crowds walked over to Centennial Olympic Park for a free concert, activities and fireworks. Despite the comfortable weather, many kids (and adults) cooled off by jumping into the fountain in the shape of the 5 olympic rings.

Just checked in to see if you guys are managing to keep this up. Thanks for the stories. In North Carolina, cyclist would spray paint likenesses of mean dogs on the road so that you could get your whistles and water bottles, and your sprint legs, ready.
We all miss you - Tuesdays aren't the same, but we're learning to cope.
